Mother and son dances can be one of the most tricky dances to plan for a wedding. Most love songs are fitted more for lovers and not the child/parent relationship. If you do find a good child/parent song, chances are they are for the father/daughter and will have lyrics about that relationship.
If you are having a hard time finding that right song for you and your mother, here are some songs for you.
- Rascal Flatts-My Wish
- Lois Armstrong-What a wonderful world
- Boyz II Men-Song for Mama (This was the song I chose for my mother/son dance)
- Beatles-In my life
- Lynyrd Skynyrd-Simple Man (This has been the most requested song in my area for mother son dances)
- Lee Ann Womack-I hope you dance
- Celine Dion-Because you loved me
- James Taylor-How Sweet It Is
- Good Charlotte-Thank You Mom (A good tear jerker)
- Rod Stewart-Have I told you lately
These are just a few of many great songs for the mother/son dance. When choosing a song remember to choose a song that is the right speed for you and your mother. You don’t want to look uncomfortable on the dance floor with your mother, pick a great song and enjoy the moment!
Another problem is that some of the songs are too long. I have a great tip for you. Coordinate with your photographer and your DJ to let them know that you will cut the song short. If you or your mother are getting tired of dancing and the song is not yet over, simply give your mother a BIG HUG! This will act as a signal to have the DJ to cut the music and that warm embrace will be captured for a lifetime by your photographer! Imagine having the perfect picture of you and your mother on the dance floor! Anyone can have this beautiful moment with planning. A little bit of planning goes a long way.
